SEATTLE — Officials at a Washington Army base say authorities are investigating the deaths of two soldiers found dead in separate incidents.

KOMO-TV reports police say Sgt. Lewis Clay, of Milledgeville, Ga., hadn’t been seen since July 29 when he left his home in Lacey. Officials say his body was found Thursday off Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Sgt. Joseph Martin, of Clarkston, Mich., also was found dead Thursday at his quarters on base.

The circumstances of both deaths are under investigation.

Clay enlisted in the Army in 2011, and served in the 8th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment since November 2017, as a Signal Support Systems Specialist.

Martin enlisted in the Army in 2014, and has served in the 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment since March 2017, as an infantryman.
