How Clark County college football players fared, Aug. 25

The college football season began for a handful of teams last weekend. Among them were some players from Clark County.

For two Camas High grads, Saturday marked their debuts on the college gridiron.

Isaiah Abdul made his debut for College of Idaho in a 24-21 loss to Eastern Oregon. The true freshman defensive back had four tackles, including three solo, and returned a blocked punt 37 yards for a touchdown.

Also making his collegiate debut was Hawaii’s Michael Boyle. The redshirt freshman handled kickoff duties in the Rainbow Warriors’ 43-34 win over Colorado State, averaging 63 yards a kick. Three of his nine went for touchbacks.

In La Grande, Eastern Oregon won the first game on its new home turf. Starting nose tackle Zach Lacey, a senior from Woodland, had a sack on third down to stop a College of Idaho drive right after Eastern Oregon had taken a 14-10 lead. EOU sophomore defensive back Jarred Telles, an Evergreen grad, recorded one tackle.

Skyview grad Dylan King returned after missing the 2017 season with an injury. Starting at defensive back for Peru State in Nebraska, the senior had five tackles in a 25-21 loss to Hastings.
