A 14-year-old Hockinson High School student arrested Monday after allegedly threatening to attack the school told police he did it to get attention.

The boy appeared in Juvenile Court on Tuesday after police arrested him on suspicion of felony harassment and making threats to bomb or injure property.

According to a probable cause statement included with court records, the boy said in a text message with another student Nov. 28 that he was planning on “shooting up the school” Monday.

Two students saw the text, according to court records, and on Friday, one of them spoke to the school resource officer.

The officer interviewed the boy Monday, with the boy’s parents present. There, according to court records, the boy admitted to sending the text, saying he wasn’t sure why he did it other than to gain attention.

The boy’s next court date was scheduled for Friday.
