Hikers, fishermen, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts: it’s time to voice your opinion. The U.S. Forest Service plans to decommission a portion of the 93 Road, starting where it crosses the bridge at Clearcreek, and until it reaches Pepper Creek Road, also called the 9039 Road.
This is because they haven’t maintained it, which is their job. Doing a little after each winter would be better than doing nothing. If the Forest Service removes a section of this road, it will take longer for medics to reach people in need and for fire crews to get to forest fires. It will add miles and time to get to land that we love to visit. If this road is decommissioned it will cost taxpayers more later to construct a new road when it’s needed, and it will be needed.
I wonder why the only option to comment on this is at the Mount Adams office, when the Vancouver USFS office is closer to this road. And who oversees that the Forest Service does its job? Taxpayers deserve to know.
