#Every28Days earns innovation award for work in local homelessness

Vancouver-based #Every28Days was honored as the Outstanding Innovative Project at the 32nd Annual Philanthropy Awards presented by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Oregon and Southwest Washington Chapter on Nov. 7 in Portland. #Every28Days is a volunteer effort to collect feminine hygiene products for women and girls experiencing homelessness and poverty. “Feminine hygiene products cannot be purchased with food stamps and are extremely expensive for women with limited or no means,” Kim Hash of Share said in a release. During the first drive in 2017, volunteers collected eight pallets of feminine hygiene products and distributed them to Share shelters and other nonprofit agencies in Clark County serving women experiencing homelessness. That doubled in the effort’s second year, when 16 pallets were collected.
