Ridgefield used a strong second-half defensive effort and only committed seven turnovers to earn its third win of the season.

The Spudders already have surpassed last year’s win total (2-18).

A long 3-pointer to end the first half by King’s Way cut Ridgefield’s lead to two at halftime.

But after that, it was all Spudders, holding King’s Way to 11 second-half points.

“We kicked it up a notch,” Ridgefield coach Tom Klutz said of his team’s defensive efforts.”

That was highlighted by Kelli Krsul’s team-high six steals to go with her fix points.

“She played great defense,” Klutz said.

Two players finished in double figures in rebounding: Alicia Andrew had a game-high 17 points to go with her 13 rebounds and Morgan Harter had 14 rebounds in addition to five points. Devi Dugan added 12 for Ridgefield, which opens 2A Greater St. Helens League play Tuesday at Columbia River.

Abby Cummins led King’s Way with 11 points.
