1. Don we now our ale apparel

If you’re in Vancouver’s Uptown Village (along Main Street south of Fourth Plain Boulevard) from 4 to 9 p.m. Dec. 15, you’ll notice a large number of people wearing hideous holiday sweaters. That’s because it’s the Ugly Sweater Pub Crawl, when participants don their most garishly festive togs and visit a bevy of businesses (16 at last count), where they’ll get discounts on craft beer, fine wine and distilled delights. It’s free to join (although beverages aren’t free) but keep in mind that some places might be 21-and-over only. No need to sign up; just show up at any one of the locations listed at www.facebook.com/uptownvillage.

2. Jingle bell rock

The Magenta Rocks! Christmas Choir is offering a family-friendly lineup of festive music featuring modern medleys, Christmas classics and a visit with Santa at intermission. There are two performances: 7:30 p.m. Dec. 14 and 2 p.m. Dec. 15. While you’re there, bid on raffle items ranging from tickets to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Portland Center Stage, gift certificates for Urban Float, Utopia Spa, Vancouver Yoga, Alder Creek Kayak, Nonavo Pizza, Gray’s Restaurant, Bishops Barbershop and others. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door, 1108 Main St., Vancouver. 360-635-4358 or www.magentatheater.com

3. Ho-ho-hooked

Rods and Reels for Kids is hosting 101 Rods for Christmas from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 14 and 15 at Additional Self Storage, Burton West Unit 258, 11000 N.E. Burton Road, Vancouver. The event — sponsored by many local businesses — is for kids ages 3 to 16, with special attention to foster kids, special needs kids, and kids from a low-income background. Kids will get free donated fishing rods and be able to choose a few free items from the tackle rack. There will be drawings with prizes every 20 minutes and raffles for brand-new rod-and-reel combos. To learn more, contact Kent at rodsandreelsforkids@gmail.com or 360-524-3620, or visit www.facebook.com/rodsandreelsforkids.

4. The jig is up

The Old Liberty’s Winterdance Celtic Christmas Celebration at 115 N. Main in Ridgefield features the band Molly’s Revenge playing energetic jigs and reels on bagpipes, fiddle, whistle, guitar, mandola and bodhran, accompanied by high-stepping Irish dancers. The show will include Christmas songs with a Celtic twist … plus something new for those who’ve made Winterdance a holiday family tradition. Showtimes are 2 and 7 p.m. Dec. 16, with doors opening 45 minutes prior to each performance. Tickets are $25, available at 360-887-7260 or www.oldlibertytheater.com.

5. Now, dancer!

There’s no place like home for the holidays … and Dayley Dance Academy Northwest aims to capture the comfort and joy of a homespun Christmas during its original dance production, “I’ll Be Home”  at Washburn Performing Arts Center, Washougal High School, 1201 39th St., Washougal. There are three showtimes: 7 p.m. Dec. 14, and 1 and 7 p.m. Dec. 15. Tickets are $12 in advance (available online at www.dayleydanceacademy.com/non-profit) or $15 at the door. Proceeds benefit Dayley Dance Academy Northwest, a nonprofit group whose mission is to develop young artists and provide performance opportunities. 360-210-5981 or www.dayleydanceacademy.com
