Letter: Stop Kalama refinery

By Lucy Krantz, Ridgefield
Published: December 17, 2018, 6:00am

We need to stop Northwest Innovation Works, a deceptive creation of the Chinese government, in attempting to create a new dirty refinery in Kalama. This plant would only increase global warming and pollution. It would contribute to health risks to the people who live nearby and all those along the Columbia River.

Taxpayers would be forced to bear the financial risk if there is an explosion or fire at the plant, or a spill in the river. Taxpayers should not use public subsidies to fund $200 million for refinery construction.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
