More rough weather expected this week along the Oregon Coast prompted a warning from Lane County officials Tuesday to coastal residents: batten down the hatches.
The worst weather will likely be Wednesday and Thursday, said Lane County Emergency Manager Linda Cook.
Stormy weather is expected to produce high waves from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and 1 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, according to National Weather Service forecasts. Cook said driftwood and other debris will add to the dangerous surf, and it might be best to stay indoors and away from the beach.
“The potential for injury — or worse — during hazardous weather and high wave activity on Lane County beaches should be taken seriously by everyone who lives near or plans to visit the coast this week,” Cook said.
