Hathaway Elementary School in Washougal went on lockdown twice Tuesday due to police activity nearby.

School district spokeswoman Rene Carroll said the school went into lockdown twice, first earlier in the day and again toward the end, the latter lasting about 40 minutes.

Students still left at the normal time, she said.

“There was no danger in the school or directly around the school,” she said.

Clark County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Brent Waddell said deputies and Washougal police officers responded to a home in the area as part of an ongoing burglary investigation.

No arrests were made, he said.
