Dante Heitschmidt scored 19 points, including a pivotal dunk off transition late, as the Falcons rallied to keep their state tournament hopes alive.

On Thursday, Prairie (17-6) will face Capital of Olympia (17-6), 60-44 winner over Hudson’s Bay on Tuesday, for a berth to the regional round of the state tournament.

Prairie trailed 35-24 at halftime, and the Seahawks still held a 54-47 lead with 6:49 left in the game.

But Prairie took a 57-56 lead with 2:25 left, then Heitschmidt’s dunk on the fast break put Prairie up 59-56. The Falcons would then ice the game from the free-throw line.

“I just thought we persevered,” Prairie coach Kyle Brooks said. “ Just a really nice job when we had to to knuckle down and get stops. Zeke and AJ Dixson especially were great on defense.”

Kameron Osborn added 18 points for the Falcons. Braiden Broadbent had 11, including three straight 3-pointers at the start of the second half.
