Art

The Artist Loft is seeking art for its March and April show called “Twisted,” which will showcase art focusing on fantasy, illusion, comic-con characters and paintings with a “twisted” view. Drop-off is 1 to 6 p.m. Feb. 26 at the gallery, 1001 Main St., Suite C. Selected artists receive $20 per entry, plus 30 percent commission of any sale. Maximum size is 30 inches-by-40 inches, and art must be framed and ready for hanging. Email possible entries to info@artistloftvancouver.com.

The Society of Washington Artists is seeking art for its spring artists show, which is professionally judged and nonjudged. It includes cash prizes in all judged categories. Artists must be 18 to enter and submit original artwork. Artists may enter up to three works of art, and the maximum size is 36 inches-by-36 inches. Registration cost $20 for a member’s first entry and $30 for a nonmembers first entry; additional entries cost $10 each. Viewings are April 26-29. Vancouver Community Library seeks submissions from local artists for their 2018 First Friday events. The application deadline is March 15. For submission information, visit www.fvrl.org and click on Vancouver under the Hours & Locations tab, or call 360-906-5000.

Music

Vancouver Community Concert Band seeks all brass, woodwind and percussion players, active and retired. All abilities welcome, no audition required. The volunteer community band, along with its polka band, Dixieland Jazz Band and chamber ensembles, performs regularly around the area. Rehearsals are from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 11005 N.E. Highway 99, Vancouver. Vancouver USA Singers seek applicants to join the 90-member community choir for its upcoming season of performances, featuring four concerts that will include Brahms’ Requiem and “The Music Man.” Auditions will consist of a short song, reading music is required. Theater

Magenta Theater seeks talent for its upcoming production of “Boeing Boeing.” Open auditions will take place at 5 p.m. March 18 at Magenta Theater, 1108 Main St., Vancouver. There are six open roles. There is a lot of kissing between characters. Doors open for auditions at 4:30 p.m., so that actors can fill out paperwork. The audition includes cold readings. A headshot and list of rehearsal conflicts is required, and a theater r?sum? preferred. The plot centers on self-styled Parisian Lothario Bernard, who has Italian, German and American fianc?es, beautiful airline hostess, who after an unexpected schedule change bring all end up at Bernard’s apartment at the same time.
