A Vancouver man who allegedly repeatedly rammed a vehicle occupied by two of his children, their mother and a teenage girl appeared Friday in Clark County Superior Court.

Jose M. Rivera, 29, faces allegations of first-degree assault, first-degree assault of a child, violating a domestic violence court order and hit-and-run of an attended vehicle, court records show.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, Vancouver police responded about 11:50 a.m. Tuesday to the 3200 block of Northeast 109th Avenue for a minor disturbance. One of the victims told police that Rivera repeatedly rammed his vehicle into her van following an argument down the block.

At the time of the ramming, the van was occupied by the victim, her 8-month-old and 1 1/2 -year-old children whom she shares with Rivera, and a 14-year-old girl. The teen reportedly has a no-contact order in place against Rivera, the affidavit said.

Rivera fled the scene, the victim said, when he noticed they were calling 911, court records state.

On Friday, Judge Scott Collier set Rivera’s bail at $75,000. He will be arraigned Feb. 23.
