Letter: Keep eye on Academy designs

By Lois Murphy, Vancouver
Published: February 19, 2018, 6:00am

The initial renderings for the proposed buildings to be built on the Providence Academy site do look inappropriate (“2 new buildings planned at the Academy,” Jan. 8, The Columbian). Modern can collude in an aesthetically pleasing manner as many European cities show. I am sure further discussion will produce better potential examples.

With that said, whatever is done, do not allow anyone, any company, any association who was in any way involved in the design and location of the building which housed the El Presidente restaurant to have any input into any matter concerning the site. Their aesthetic choices say all that is necessary to exclude them.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
