Bank of America Corp. plans to open 500 branches across the U.S. during the next four years, the Charlotte, N.C.-based firm said Monday in a statement.
The bank said it plans to hire more than 5,400 workers as part of the expansion. It had 4,470 U.S. branches and a workforce of 209,000 at the end of the year.
The bank cut its U.S. branch count by more than 600 offices in the four years ended December.
“We continue to deploy significant resources to meet the changing needs of an expanding client base,” Thong Nguyen, co-head of consumer and small-business banking at Bank of America, said in the statement.
