Letter: No need for new taxes

By Jerry Rogers, Vancouver
Published: January 11, 2018, 6:00am

Last month the Republicans, without the help of a single Democrat, passed a historic tax bill that will give tax relief to approximately 80 percent of American workers. The bill also reduces corporate taxes to a historic level designed to add new business in the United States, including Washington state.

Just seven days into the New Year was a letter in Our Readers’ Views by Mark Leed, supporting new taxes (“Support putting price on carbon,” Jan. 7). This is a tax on carbon that is apparently supported by Gov. Jay Inslee and a liberal coalition planning an initiative.

When are the liberals going to learn that the American people are tired of taxation and initiatives that hamper job growth?

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
