Over 30,000 gun-related deaths in the U.S. each year seems acceptable to some people because that compares to the number of traffic-related deaths. A friend of mine even suggested that cars are every bit as dangerous as guns. But accepting the premise that cars and guns are equally dangerous, let’s treat guns and cars the same under the law. Just like cars, guns should be registered, tested for safety, insured and taxed per unit. Owners of cars and guns should be trained, tested and licensed.
