Housing Hotline hours extended until April

Those in search of shelter or emergency housing can now call the Housing Hotline later in the day to get help. The Council for the Homeless extended the hotline hours from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays until April.

Normally the hotline, which people use to access shelter beds, is open until 5 p.m. A partnership between the council and 211info with funding from the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington allowed the hotline hours to be extended for winter. The change was spurred by conversations about better serving the homeless community during severe weather.

“People in need of shelter and local outreach teams requested the later access hours, to ensure those who seek a safe place to sleep can access shelter, especially when the weather is frigid,” said Kate Budd, deputy director of the Council for the Homeless, in a news release.

The Housing Hotline number is 360-695-9677.
