PORTLAND — The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office says a woman fatally shot herself while speaking with crisis negotiators east of Portland.
The agency says deputies responded Sunday after a homeowner in Fairview called 911 to report that a woman outside was “acting strangely” and had a handgun.
Trained crisis negotiators joined deputies at the scene and spent more than three hours trying to help the distraught woman. During the conversation, the woman suddenly fired a shot. She died at the scene.
The woman’s name has not been released.
