A 37-year-old woman died Wednesday evening after falling in the Potholes area below the dam at Lacamas Lake Park.

According to the Camas-Washougal Fire Department, the incident was reported about 7 p.m. Firefighters arrived to find the woman had died of traumatic injuries. A technical rescue team spent three hours to safely recover her body.

The Potholes are on the west side of the park, below a dam that can be crossed via a footbridge.

The woman’s identity will be released later by the Clark County Medical Examiner’s office, which was called to take custody of her remains.

Camas-Washougal firefighters were assisted by personnel from the Vancouver Fire Department, East County Fire and Rescue, and Clark County Fire District 6.
