I am voting for Carolyn Long for Congress instead of Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, because, when I retire, I’m going to need every penny of my Social Security, and as robust a Medicare system as this country can afford to maintain.
My Social Security checks won’t be used to augment my investments, or take trips to Disneyland with the grandkids. My Social Security will be needed to pay the mortgage and the electric bill.
The trillion-dollar tax cut for the wealthy, which Herrera Beutler supported, can only be financed through reductions in our Social Security and Medicare.
