Letter: Despots are unfit to serve

The July 16 Associated Press story “Trump names EU top foe” (The Columbian) reported that “President Donald Trump … denounced the news media as the “enemy of the people.” The same day’s paper (Washington, D.C., Roll Call) reported that Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler voted to block debate on a constitutional amendment to “restore … congressional and state powers to regulate money in politics (which) would nullify the … Citizens United ruling.”

These despots must be removed from public office; the sooner the better. They are unfit to serve and are active opponents of a free democratic republic.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
