Letter: Trump not fit for presidency

By Joan Turley, Vancouver

I try not to discuss politics in public but I am so outraged I cannot remain silent. I think silence in the face of what happened in Helsinki is like saying President Trump’s behavior is acceptable. It is not acceptable!

I never thought I would see the day that an American president would shame the country like Trump has by rolling over like Russian President Vladimir Putin’s whipped dog. If he is not impeached or at least censured for this I will lose all hope for the future health of our democracy and the U.S. Constitution. He has betrayed his country and diminished us before the entire world.

That he can chastise NFL players for “taking a knee” during the national anthem and think his behavior is not unpatriotic is extreme hypocrisy. All Americans should be outraged. We should demand his removal from office. He is not fit nor is he deserving of the presidency.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
