A Vancouver toy store co-owner has been honored by her peers with a lifetime achievement award for her help in the industry.

Mary Sisson, owner of Kazoodles at 13503 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd., earned recognition from the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association for helping other retailers “wherever there is a need” and helping edit the industry publication Toy Times magazine.

“Mary is the best kind of volunteer,” said Kimberly Mosley, the industry association president. “She jumps right in, gets involved, and makes things happen when she takes on something new. Honoring her with the Lifetime Achievement Award is our way of saying ‘thank you.’ ”

Sisson’s husband, Bob, is a former employee of The Columbian. The couple opened Kazoodles in 2006.

The American Specialty Toy Retailing Association, founded in 1992, is made up of independent retailers, manufacturers and sales representatives in the toy industry.
