Letter: Herrera Beutler lacks concern

It is alarming how Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, has supported each of the Republican attacks on humanity. Setting aside the travel ban and the abandonment of the people of Puerto Rico, we’ve had forcible separation and caging of young children from Latino parents seeking asylum in the U.S. No accounting of their care and their abuse is forthcoming by Republicans, including Herrera Beutler. We are being told hundreds of these abused children may never be reunited with their parent(s). Herrera Beutler’s lack of interest in these human crimes and acceptance of her party’s atrocity is unforgivable.

Then there is the direct attack on the health of 3rd District constituents. Herrera Beutler voted to destroy health insurance while offering no viable solution for America (after eight years of promises to the contrary). She voted to successfully kill the Affordable Care Act individual mandate, thereby ensuring ever higher health insurance costs. Now the Republicans refuse to support protections for pre-existing conditions. This ultimately will leave a large percentage of 3rd District constituents without coverage. While Herrera Beutler benefitted immensely from her taxpayer-funded health insurance she’s now a Republican elite, with no concern for humane treatment of people.
