North Garrison Heights — Nearly five years to the day when Heidi Stewart collapsed after suffering a cardiac arrest at Evergreen High School, she met one of the paramedics who helped save her life. After the Feb. 12, 2013, incident, Stewart was diagnosed with a rare heart condition — arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia/cardiomyopathy. Before losing consciousness, Stewart remembered two things: the sound of male voices and fire tattoos. She and her family had been searching for the paramedic with fire tattoos ever since. On Feb. 24, she was volunteering at the Quinn Driscoll Foundation Heart Screenings at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center when she met David Crabtree. Stewart now feels like she can close that chapter of her life after meeting Crabtree, according to an email from her sister, Heather Stewart.
