Letter: Let Congress know what you think

By Dylan Normington, Vancouver
Published: March 11, 2018, 6:00am

Our congresswoman, Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Battle Ground, voted to make it easier for the mentally ill to buy guns including the AR-15 recently used by a mentally ill teenager to murder 17 people at a high school in Florida. Our Republican president, Donald Trump, signed this bill into law last year.

Do you think that mentally ill teenagers should be able to buy an AR-15 or other assault rifles? If you do, you should vote for Herrera Beutler. If you don’t, you should not vote for her and instead call her office at 360-695-6292 and ask why she thinks that mentally ill teenagers should be able to buy assault rifles and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
