Letter: Information is good to have

I appreciate the fine investigative reporting by Katy Sword in the March 8 story “Analysis shows NRA spending in 17th leads state.” It is nice to know that my voluntary contributions to the National Rifle Association are being used to help elect Vancouver Republicans to our Legislature.

This story was more in-depth than that on state Rep. Liz Pike by Jake Thomas: “Council chair race could be costly” (Sept. 3, The Columbian). Pike paid membership fees to Clark Rifles and then went so far as to spend money on a concealed carry holster. Oh, the shame! Why would anyone do that?

Maybe for the same reason I fasten my seat belt when I drive. I don’t plan to get in an accident, but you never can tell what will happen between where you are and where you are going.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
