Evergreen Public Schools board member honored for leadership

Landover-Sharmel — Evergreen Public Schools board member Julie Bocanegra earned a 2018 Iris Award from Clark College.

At the ceremony, she was presented with her award by a familiar face: former Evergreen Superintendent John Deeder. The Iris Awards honor women in Southwest Washington for their leadership and contributions in the categories of public, private and philanthropic service.

Bocanegra also works as a vice president/branch manager for Columbia Credit Union. Other honorees included Julianna Marler, CEO of Port of Vancouver, attorney Nancy Retsinas and Nan Henriksen, former Camas mayor and community volunteer.
