A 46-year-old Vancouver man faces a total of 20 child pornography-related allegations following his arrest on Thursday.
Nathan Dwight Burleigh made an initial appearance in Clark County Superior Court on Friday on suspicion of 10 counts of first-degree possessing depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct and another 10 counts of first-degree dealing in depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
Judge Robert Lewis set bail at $30,000, according to court documents. The documents say Burleigh’s arraignment is set for May 11.
An investigator assigned to the Vancouver Police Department’s Digital Evidence Cybercrime Unit began tracking an IP address in Clark County in March, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in the case.
Over the course of the month, the investigator downloaded more than 300 files of suspected child porn from the person associated with the unique computer address, the affidavit says.
The investigator then obtained a search warrant to track the source of the child porn to an address at Northeast 155th Circle — a home Burleigh has shared with his wife for nine years, according to court records.
When cybercrime unit officers showed up on Burleigh’s doorstep Thursday, he agreed to talk to them and allegedly admitted to downloading and possessing child porn.
Burleigh told the investigators he used a Dell laptop computer, which “contained a hidden folder of child pornography,” the affidavit says.
A later review of images downloaded by the investigator turned up depictions of girls as young as 7 engaged in sex acts, according to the affidavit.
Court documents say Burleigh told Lewis he has been unemployed for six years and receives disability benefits. He also told the judge “he has never been in trouble before.”
