RIDGEFIELD — Camas’ Hailey Oster and Prairie’s Delainey Patterson finished at about the same place Tuesday — all alone atop their respective leaderboards.

But both players’ thoughts were with their teammates as they ran away with individual district golf titles at Tri-Mountain Golf Course.

“It was a really good way to end my high school career with this team that I love so much,” Patterson said. “I couldn’t think of a better way to end my senior year than to be the district champ and to be the team district champ.”

Patterson, a senior, followed up Monday’s round of 77 with another 77 on Tuesday, giving her a six-shot win over Kelso’s Liz Dolan and repeat as the 3A girls district champion.

Oster’s Tuesday wasn’t as good as her Monday. But Monday’s round was so good it didn’t matter. The Camas senior shot a 79 Tuesday to go with her 73 on Monday as she beat teammate Abigail Jiang by seven shots for the 4A district individual title.

The 4A golfers started later than their 3A counterparts. And that meant the 4A golfers had to deal with more breezy conditions as storm clouds rolled in during the afternoon.

“The front nine it was pretty good, but the back nine I struggled a little,” Oster said. “It got really windy, which made it a lot of tougher mentally.”

But the weather couldn’t keep the Papermakers from blowing away the field at 4A district.

Camas swept all four automatic qualifying spots with Oster (152), Jiang (159), Ashley Clark (160) and Emma Cox (160).

Lauryn Tsukama made it a top-5 sweep for Camas as she took fifth to lead the next seven golfers who advanced to next week’s bi-district tournament. She was joined by two more teammates (Avery Salvato and Elizabeth Gillespie) as Camas beat Skyview 209-178 for the team title.

Also heading to bi-district were Maddy Starwalt and Maddy McKinney of Skyview and Union’s Katie Brockley and Cassidy Pettitt.

“Everyone on our team either made it to state or to bi-district,” Oster said. “It was really great to have everyone play well and to play to their potential and to all make it.”

Joining Patterson and Dolan to state from the 3A tournament were Kiana Coburn of Fort Vancouver, Baylee Robertson of Prairie and Audrey Chang of Mountain View.

Chang beat Prairie’s Emma Sorenson in a playoff for the last spot to state.

Sorenson will go to bi-districts next week along with teammates Madi Schmidt, Charis Abrahamson and Lauren Hapgood as Prairie easily outdistanced Kelso for the team title.

Hallie Tibbits of Fort, Xaaran Dolence of Hudson’s Bay and Mountain View’s Maria Maratos and Kaila Bonawithz also earned bi-district berths.
