A skateboarder was reportedly hit by a metal recycling truck Tuesday afternoon near Mill Plain Boulevard and D Street.

Vancouver police responded to the collision at approximately 2:40 p.m. Initial reports indicated a 32-year-old man was skateboarding north on D Street when he entered Mill Plain and was hit by the truck. He was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said the truck driver was cooperating and there are no indications that the driver was impaired.

Two lanes on eastbound Mill Plain were closed for several hours Tuesday afternoon while the Vancouver Police Department’s traffic unit investigated the scene.
