Letter: No faith in Trump

By John J. Monaco, Vancouver

Some people have faith to fit in. Some people have faith for personal financial gain. Like, for example, those who run for public office knowing full well they’ll be better off financially when they leave office.

I find that faith-based initiatives our president promotes are rewards for political support. Some people say that President Trump was sent to us by Jesus to cure what ails this country. Some of the shenanigans of Trump and his administration are for nothing other than financial enrichment for him, his family and the 1 percent.

If he was a Democrat, some people of faith would want to burn him at the stake for lying, cheating, and misrepresenting his true intentions. Some say they voted for him because he is businessman. I say he’s nothing more than a “snake oil salesman.”

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
