1. Honor and remember

On Nov. 10, The Historic Trust will host the 32nd annual Veterans Parade, rain or shine. The procession, led by the 7th Infantry Division Color Guard, will begin at 11 a.m. at East Reserve Street and travel west on Evergreen Boulevard along Officers Row, then proceed south down Broadway and west on Eighth Street. The parade’s marching bands, military vehicles, riders on horseback, scout troops, veterans and civic groups will then travel north on Main Street and east on 11th Street, ending at Providence Academy. Raise a flag from the sidelines and show your appreciation for our honored veterans. www.thehistorictrust.org

2. The bottom line

The Water Resources Education Center, 4600 S.E. Columbia Way, Vancouver, will celebrate World Toilet Day with The Fabulous Flush from 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 10. Families will be flush with excitement at all the free, kid-friendly activities, like learning what can’t be flushed in the “toilet toss,” writing a “hai-poo,” and taking the “big squat challenge.” Attendees will also learn fun facts like what happens to flush-water and how micro-organisms can turn dirty water into clean water. 360-487-7111 or www.cityofvancouver.us/watercenter

3. Try a little positivi-tea

Spend a relaxing afternoon at picturesque Pomeroy Farm, 20902 N.E. Lucia Falls Road, Yacolt, for an Autumn Tea Luncheon featuring three types of tea sandwiches, assorted seasonal desserts, scones with clotted cream and berry jam and a choice of black or herbal tea. Two dates are offered, Nov. 10 and 17, with seatings at noon on each day. The cost is $24 per person and includes a tour of the Pomeroy family’s log cabin, built in 1920, which is full of interesting antiques and vintage items. To reserve your spot, call 360-686-3537 or visit www.pomeroyfarm.org.

4. Toying around

Kazoodles, 13503 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd., No. 3, Vancouver, will celebrate Neighborhood Toy Store Day Nov. 10 with free kids’ activities and games with prizes. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., kids can paint rocks, play such board games as Happy Bunny and Shadows in the Forest, meet Botley the coding robot and try the Turing Tumble, a new game where players build marble-powered computers to solve logic puzzles. Guests are also invited to contribute new toys, hats and mittens to the Children’s Center Toy Drive. 360-823-0123 or www.kazoodlestoys.com

5. Polar Express

Chill out with award-winning photographer Paul Souders, who will be at Vintage Books, 6613 E. Mill Plain Blvd. Vancouver, from 2 to 3 p.m. Nov. 10 to answer questions and sign copies of his book, “Arctic Solitaire: A Boat, a Bay and the Quest for the Perfect Bear.” The book is a pictorial memoir that documents the misadventures, perils and triumphs of four summers spent journeying through the Arctic wilderness in a 22-foot fishing boat to capture pictures of polar bears in their natural habitat. 360-694-9519 or www.vintage-books.net
