Though he has a reputation for thunderous dunks, Trevor Jasinsky’s season is off to a flying start in many ways.

Jasinsky, a 6-foot-7 forward from Camas, scored a combined 55 points in Western Washington’s first two basketball games.

He scored a career-high 32 points in WWU’s season-opening 84-78 victory over Cal State East Bay on Friday. He was 8 for 15 from the field, 10 for 10 from the foul line and scored 10 of the Vikings’ final 12 points.

The following day, he had 23 points and eight assists in a 97-92 loss to UC San Diego. Both games were part of the CCAA/GNAC Challenge in La Jolla, Calif.

Monday, Jasinsky was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference player of the week.

The Vikings, ranked No. 14 in NCAA Division-II, are expecting big things this season from Jasinsky, a redshirt-junior. He started all 29 games last season, averaging 10.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.
