The American Red Cross says a Monday morning fire that damaged a home south of Salmon Creek displaced eight people.

Crews with Clark County Fire District 6 and the Vancouver Fire Department were dispatched about 9:30 a.m. to a home in the 3700 block of Northeast 100th Circle for a residential structure fire. The occupants were outside when firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported.

The initial crew to arrive found a fire in the attached garage of the two-story house. Flames extended into the second floor of the house and its attic, Fire District 6 spokesman Dave Schmitke told The Columbian.

Disaster responders arrived around noon to help the residents, according to a news release from the Cascades Region office of the American Red Cross. The fire affected three adults, five children and four pets.

The Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
