Northeast Hazel Dell — Fifty-five fifth-graders from Image Elementary School participated in a Farm to Fork field day event at the 78 Street Heritage Farm hosted by Washington State University Extension’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education. Farm to Fork events are designed to teach students about where their food comes from and how agriculture affects their everyday lives. Students helped put a vegetable garden to bed for the winter by laying down compost. They also toured some of the 80-acre farm, learned about its history and the variety of organizations that farm the land. They also tasted local zucchini.
