Letter: North Korea remains a threat

In June of this year President Trump returned from meeting North Korea’s leader in Singapore with what he called an historic agreement to begin the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula. The president boasted the agreement was better than anyone could have expected and touted his special bond with Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

We now know that Trump was hoodwinked. The New York Times reported on Nov. 12 that American intelligence officials are saying North Korea has continued its ballistic missile and nuclear arms buildup while sanctions against Kim’s regime are being openly flouted by China and Russia. Worse still, an early warning satellite system developed during the Obama administration to alert us of imminent attack has yet to be deployed by Trump.

Our president’s deep-seated narcissism has apparently made him vulnerable to being manipulated and deceived by the “little rocket man” Kim Jong Un while placing American security and the safety of our Asian allies in deep jeopardy.
