VA Portland Health Care System names director

PORTLAND — Darwin Goodspeed has been named the new director of the VA Portland Health Care System, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced. He will oversee delivery of health care to more than 94,930 veterans and a $729 million operating budget.

Goodspeed joined the VA more than 10 years ago and has held progressive leadership positions in Texas, Ohio and Sioux Falls, S.D., where most recently, he was the medical center director.

The VA Portland Health Care System administers a full range of primary, emergency, specialty, tertiary and long-term care to veterans throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington. In addition to two main divisions in Portland and Vancouver, the system operates Community Based Outpatient/Outreach Clinics in several Oregon cities.
