Will we see more downpours this weekend? Check our local weather coverage.

In case you missed them, here are some of the top stories from the week:

John Bishop sentenced to 5 years for drug smuggling

SAN DIEGO — Former Vancouver pastor John Bishop was sentenced to five years in prison on a federal drug-smuggling charge Wednesday in U.S. District Court in San Diego.

As Bishop, 55, entered the courtroom wearing a tan jumpsuit with an orange shirt underneath, he mouthed, “I love you” to his estranged wife Michelle Bishop, and frequently turned toward her during the proceedings.

Missed red flags kept predators in Clark County schools

Five years before her arrest, Evergreen Public Schools officials knew that an associate principal had been interacting with students in ways that “undoubtedly could be perceived as ‘grooming’ behavior.”

In 2013, Sadie Pritchard admitted to former human resources director Bruce Nashif that she was talking to students on her private cellphone, and giving them money and gift cards.

Today, Pritchard is awaiting trial on three counts of sexual misconduct with a minor. A police investigation concluded she had engaged in sex acts multiple times with a student at Evergreen High School, where she was an associate principal.

Clark County man believed killed by tribe on isolated Indian island

A man who grew up in Vancouver is believed to have been killed by an isolated Indian Ocean island tribe known to fire at outsiders with bows and arrows, Indian police said Wednesday.

The man has been identified as John Allen Chau, 26.

Police officer Vijay Singh said seven fishermen have been arrested for facilitating Chau’s visit to North Sentinel Island, where the killing apparently occurred. Visits to the island are heavily restricted by the government.

Vancouver man dies in crash on Highway 14

A Vancouver man was killed Sunday morning when his motorhome lost control, crashed and caught fire on state Highway 14 in Skamania County east of Washougal.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Kenneth D. Karschney, 66, was driving east about 7 miles east of Washougal, when, around 11 a.m., he lost control of his 1998 Ford Econoline motorhome.

FBI: Proud Boys recruiting in the Northwest

The FBI says the far-right nationalist group the Proud Boys, who have figured into incidents of political violence around the country, are actively recruiting in the Northwest and are seen as an extremist group by the federal agency, according to documents from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

“The FBI categorizes the Proud Boys as an extremist group with ties to white nationalism,” the sheriff’s office said in an internal affairs investigation obtained by good-government nonprofit groups Property of the People and The Sparrow Project. “The FBI has warned local law enforcement agencies that the Proud Boys are actively recruiting in the Pacific Northwest and that some Proud Boy members have contributed to the recent escalation of violence at political rallies held on college campuses, and in cities like Charlottesville, Virginia; Portland, Oregon; and Seattle, Washington.”
