Clark County sheriff’s deputies on Wednesday morning arrested a man wanted out of Tacoma after he barricaded himself inside a Salmon Creek hotel room.

Deputies were dispatched about 6 a.m. to Quality Inn at 13207 N.E. 20th Ave., for a report of a wanted man.

The man, identified as 28-year-old Mark Savelle, was sought by law enforcement for multiple counts of first-degree assault and felony harassment in the Tacoma area, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Savelle “had a self-inflicted gunshot wound to (his) leg and refused to exit the room,” the news release says.

SWAT officers and crisis negotiators spoke with Savelle, and he eventually surrendered and was arrested without incident.

Savelle was taken to a hospital for treatment. The sheriff’s office said he will be released to detectives with the Tacoma Police Department.
