The city of Vancouver’s parking services will be reorganized to fall under the Vancouver Police Department starting Monday, according to the department.

The police department’s police service technicians will manage parking complaints and issue citations.

Police service technicians aren’t officers but can take reports for property crimes, vehicle crashes, help at crime scenes and generally help address lower-priority calls for police services.

Residents with a neighborhood parking complaint within city limits have two options for making complaints.

They can call the nonemergency line at 311, and the call will be assigned to a technician for follow-up. Or, residents can complete an online form to file a complaint. The message will also go to a technician.

More information about city parking rules and means to file a complaint are available at the city’s website.
