Vancouver police pursued an armed robber who made off with cash from a Rose Village gas station late Monday night, but the suspect got away.

Officers responded about 11:17 p.m. to 2901 St. Johns Blvd. for the report of a robbery that just occurred.

Vancouver Police Department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said in an email that the suspect ran into a Shell station, pointed a handgun at the cashier and demanded money. “He fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash,” Kapp said.

After a report that the man headed eastbound from the store on 29th Street, police immediately set up a perimeter around the area and deployed a canine in hopes of tracking down the robber. The suspect was not located, however.

It was the second armed robbery in two days in Vancouver. On Sunday, an east Vancouver sandwich shop was robbed.
