Letter: Kavanaugh saga nothing but hijinx

The current administration is a daily onslaught of unhinged behavior. President Trump’s choice for the Supreme Court was an example of hijinx at the federal level of governing.

During his testimony, Brett Kavanaugh’s performance consisted of prevaricating while shouting, sniveling and generally exhibiting personality defects he was said to have manifested as a young man: aggression, hostility and belligerence — all in force even without the presence of a keg of beer. Kavanaugh justified his hubris and contempt due to his perception that he “busted his butt” in school, was an athlete and kept busy. No doubt he was and is ambitious. Whether he has the character and temperament to serve the law at the highest level is dubious, at best.

Not to be left out, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., piled on with an out-of-control rant that evidently was supposed to pass for logic and pertinent legal observation. And, voila! It worked.

The rest is a new, regrettable chapter in our history that will have repercussions far into the future.
