Letter: Keep Herrera Beutler in Congress

By Richard McNeil, Vancouver

I’m troubled by The Columbian’s endorsement of Carolyn Long over Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler.

We need to continue to enjoy the tax cuts that have boosted our economy. Long would be another vote for more taxes. Also, I’m concerned about Medicare and its existence if Long’s push for one plan for all is enacted. Tax-and-spend policies and a socialist approach to medical care have been shown to not work. Long has taught at Washington State University Vancouver for 23 years but purchased a condo in Vancouver 16 months before the election. Long may say this is a nonissue but I believe it is.

Vote for Jaime Herrera Beutler.
