Letter: Support Long for Congress

By Kay and Jim Postma, Vancouver
Published: October 22, 2018, 6:00am

We support Carolyn Long for Congress. As teachers with over 80 years of experience, we understand Long’s expressed concerns for improving education:

1. Expanding apprenticeships and internships for students getting their foot in the door of businesses;

2. Diminishing/eliminating excessive tuition loans. As they are being paid off over decades those same dollars could be spent directly in our community without immense loans;

3. Doing more to support underserved communities enabling every student with same opportunities to achieve their dreams;

4. Discouraging teachers from spending their personal income for necessary classroom resources.

Please vote for Carolyn Long to Congress.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
