Society has determined that adult citizenship is conferred on people at age 18. Adults can join the military, serve on juries, vote, sign contracts and be charged with felonies. Initiative 1639 would deny people 18 to 20 years old of a federally protected civil right. Unless adjudicated by an impartial judge, guaranteed rights can not be revoked. Period.
The overwhelming majority of gun owners in this country are law-abiding and mentally stable. To restrict rights of young adults is age discrimination. Period. Crazy actions of the minuscule few shouldn’t abridge the enumerated rights of the majority. We can never allow sub-classes of American citizenship. Period.
