Letter: Thanks for a free press

Fake news? Apparently all media, TV and newsprint, is just not reliable, according to President Trump. However, he seems to like certain tabloid coverage of himself. This type of news is not necessarily true, either, but it makes him look good and it protects him by hiding certain embarrassing articles. Yep, we really don’t need any other input, just tabloid stuff to keep us all dumbed down. The First Amendment allows for a free press, which Trump wants to control. All I can say is, “Thank goodness we have more than the tabloids.” Thank goodness we have a strong press.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
