Richard Deleissegues, a fire commissioner with Fire District 3, died at home on Sept. 9, according to a release from the district.

He had been a commissioner in the district since 2000 after moving to Vancouver in 1994. He moved to Hockinson in 1995 and lived there until his death. Deleissegues also served for 15 years on the Clark County Planning Commission, the last five years as chairman.

He later worked in the Washington, D.C., national headquarters, Montana and San Francisco, where he retired as director of engineering for the region.

Prior to working with the forest service, Deleissegues graduated from the University of Nevada in 1959. He then spent 2 1/2 years on active duty with the United States Army, and another 26 years in the Army Reserve.

Deleissegues was married to Becky Deleissegues. They had two children, who both live in California.
