Fire destroyed a large outbuilding late Friday morning in Washougal.

The fire was reported around 11:30 a.m. at 2601 H. St. They arrived to find a large outbuilding used for storage ablaze, according to a bulletin from the Camas-Washougal Fire Department.

Dispatchers shifted responding units before a firefighter on scene requested two additional engines, according to emergency radio traffic monitored at The Columbian. Another firefighter relayed a short time later that the fire was confined to an outbuilding, but he and other responders were continuing to press their attack on the fire.

The building and all its contents were destroyed. The fire is believed to have been caused by sparks from a grinder being used on a piece of metal.

No injuries were reported.
